New Jersey District Updates

Sindell Law Offices E-Min Newsletter (Vol. 11) - English Article #41

If you are filing a marriage based green card case, the case should be sent to the lock box in Chicago, not to the district office. The application is forwarded to the National Benefits Center in Missouri, and then interviews, etc. are schedule with the district office from there. Newark is working towards adjudications of adjustment of status and naturalization applications within 8-9 months and they are close to achieving that goal. Their ultimate goal by FY2006 is to reach 6-7 month processing times for these types of cases.

If a customer needs emergency assistance, for example, travel permission, and that person needs to apply for advanced parole, normally, there is a process for doing this, namely, filing an I-131. However, in emergency situations, the district office does accept walk-ins without an appointment (through INFO PASS). Usually, the reason for accepting an emergency application would be a death or serious illness of an immediate relative. In addition, the district states that proof of the situation would be required.
